Official Statement: Date Change

FRIDAY 1ST MAY 2026

Today marks a truly special moment for us here at Barnsley Pride - we're now an independent event. What started as an idea, driven by passion for our community, has grown in to something real and meaningful. This milestone represents our commitment to keep showing up, supporting others and building something that truly makes a difference.

Barnsley Pride 2026 will now take place on Saturday 25th July 2026. Being an independent event brings new responsibilities and we want to make sure everything we do reflects the care, purpose and integrity this new chapter deserves.

"Doin' it fo' babbies"

Leading the atmosphere on the main stage in 2026 is Northern Funny Mummy, the online comedy persona of Kayleigh Nowell. Known for her relatable northern humour and viral sketches about everyday life, she has built a large following on social media and live comedy circuits, connecting with audiences through sharp wit and authentic storytelling.

As host, Northern Funny Mummy brings her signature energy, humour, and unmistakable Yorkshire charm to the heart of the event—keeping crowds entertained, introducing performers, and ensuring the main stage reflects the inclusive, fun, and proudly local spirit that defines Barnsley Pride.

Jo, Charity Operations Lead for Barnsley Pride said:

"As we make a step away from Barnsley's Big Weekend, we want to let our community know that, after careful consideration, the Board of Trustees has made the decision to move the date of Barnsley Pride 2026.

This has not been an easy decision. We know how important Pride is to so many people across Barnsley and beyond, and how much planning goes into attending, performing, and supporting the event. However, in order to deliver the safe, inclusive, and high-quality celebration that our community deserves, we believe that changing the date is the right and responsible step.

The new date allows us to better coordinate logistics, secure key partners and acts, and ensure that Barnsley Pride continues to grow as a welcoming space for everyone in our LGBTQ+ community and allies.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, patience, and understanding. Pride has always been about community, resilience, and coming together—and we remain committed to making Barnsley Pride 2026 a day to remember."

Drag Legend. Period.

When it comes to commanding a stage with equal parts glamour, grit, and unfiltered Northern charm, few do it quite like Gina Tina. A true legend of the local drag scene, she’s spent years dazzling audiences with razor-sharp wit, powerhouse performances, and a presence that refuses to be ignored. Now, she’s bringing that unmistakable energy to Barnsley Pride 2026, taking the reins of the Cabaret Stage for a celebration that promises to be as bold and brilliant as she is.

Known for turning every mic drop into a moment and every entrance into an event, Gina isn’t just a host — she’s the heartbeat of the party. Whether she’s serving high camp, heartfelt connection, or laugh-out-loud banter, she knows exactly how to keep a crowd living for every second.

Ralph, from Barnsley Civic added: We are delighted to once again be a host venue for this year’s Barnsley Pride. Barnsley Civic continues to be a place where everyone can create, connect and feel they belong. We are proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ communities - not only during Barnsley Pride, but every day, by providing an inclusive space where people can be their authentic selves, build friendships and take part in meaningful cultural experiences.

It has to be said...

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Barnsley Council’s Arts & Events Team for including Barnsley Pride in the Big Weekend celebrations in previous years. Their support, collaboration, and commitment to supporting inclusive, community-focused events means so much to us and to everyone who attends Pride each year. By championing Barnsley Pride in this way, they are helping to amplify LGBTQ+ voices, celebrate diversity, and create a welcoming space for all. We’re incredibly grateful for your partnership and dedication in making this event such a success.
