Barnsley Pride is thrilled to announce that it will host South Yorkshire’s first-ever drag pageant dedicated to new and emerging drag performers, shining a spotlight on the next generation of talent within the region’s LGBTQ+ community.
This groundbreaking event, part of this year’s Barnsley Pride celebrations, is designed to give performers who are new to the drag scene a supportive platform to showcase their creativity, charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent. It will feature multiple rounds, including runway and performance categories, with judging by respected members of the local drag and LGBTQ+ communities.
Drag has long been a vibrant form of expression, blending fashion, performance, comedy, and individuality. Barnsley Pride’s pageant aims to celebrate this artistry while encouraging and nurturing the region’s newest performers—those taking to the stage for the very first time.

The winner of the drag pageant will be crowned in true superstar style, receiving a dazzling crown and sceptre from (business name) in recognition of their talent, charisma, and stage presence.
Alongside this prestigious title, 'Yorkshire's Drag Rumble Pageant Winner', the champion will secure a coveted 20-minute performance spot, opening for the headliner, on the main stage at Barnsley Pride, giving them the chance to showcase their artistry to a huge and celebratory crowd.
The prizes continue with an exciting residency and a generous cash prize, courtesy of Funny Gals Barnsley, providing the winner with both recognition and opportunity to continue shining in the local drag scene.
